View and add training courses

  1. Go to Training, then select Courses from the Maintenance section. A list of existing training courses is shown.

  2. To add a new training course, click Add New Course. Click the course name to edit an existing course.

  3. From the Course tab, complete the information as described in the following table, then select Save.

    Fields marked with a red asterisk * are mandatory, and you must complete them. You cannot move to the other tabs until you have saved the course details on this tab.

    How to complete

    Course Code*

    Type a code for the new course. It is good practice to use a coding convention for your training courses. Course codes are shown in dashboard charts.

    Course Title*

    Type the course title (maximum 100 characters).

    Course Type

    Select the appropriate course type from the drop-down menu (used to categorise the course for reporting purposes). The options available for selection are configured in Admin > System Lists.

    Internal

    If the course is run internally, tick this box.

    Duration (Minutes)

    If the course lasts for less than half a day, type its duration in minutes (for example, 60).

    Duration (Days)

    If the course lasts for more than a day, type its duration in days.

    Course Available From

    Type or select the first date when the course will be available.

    Course Available To

    Type or select the last date when the course will be available.

    In Use

    Tick the box to make the course available for selection when you create training schedules.

    Course Expiry (Months)

    If the course will expire after several months, type the number in this field. IRIS Cascade adds this number of months to the end date of the course when it is scheduled.

    CPD Duration (Hours)

    If the course has a continuing professional development (CPD) value, type the appropriate number of hours.

    CPD Earned (Hours)

    If the course has a CPD value, type the appropriate number of hours earned.

    Allow Employees to

    From the drop-down menu, select the option that describes how employees can access the course.

    Record Pass/Fail

    If employees can pass or fail the course, tick the box. This information is shown on employees’ Training Attendance screen.
