Adding authorisation routes overview

Authorisation routes determine who authorises certain changes in the system. For example, to enable line managers to authorise holiday requests from a selected group of employees.

You can create three different types of authorisation route:

  1. Specific Employees, for use by a selected group of employees only.
For example, you could create authorisation routes to send:
    • Directors’ holiday requests to the HR department
    • Appraisal and holiday requests to employees’ line manager
    • Expense requests to a specific employee in the Finance department
  2. Specific Hierarchy, for use by a selected group of hierarchy locations only.
  3. All Employees, for use by all employees.

Use clear and specific names when you create your authorisation routes, this will make them easier to find and understand their structure. Strong naming of authorisation routes makes the process quicker and easier should any changes be necessary in the future.
