Manage Standard Items

Use the Certification tab in the Curriculum Manager module to manage standard items. For example, standard items for preschool could be 'Holding a pencil' and 'Using the bathroom'. These items can added to more than one set so only needed to be added once.

Standard items can also be imported from a spreadsheet.

To manage standard items, follow the steps below:

  1. Open the Gradebooks module and select the Certification tab.
  2. Select Manage Standard Items from the right hand menu to display this screen:
    • All of the standard items are listed.
    • The details displayed and how they are displayed is determined by the settings in entity preferences. See Update Standards Management entity preferences for more help with this.
    • Hover over any column header icons shown for more information.
  3. Use the drop-down in the top right of the screen to change the Group By setting if required.
  4. Use the navigation tools at the bottom of the screen to display the standard items that you want to work with.
  5. Choose to:

Add a standard item

  1. Select Add Standard Item in the header. A popup window is displayed:
  2. Select the Standard Item Properties tab and complete the fields displayed:

    • Enter a name, code, legend and description for the item.
    • Standard Item Cycle. Select a cycle to link the item to.
    • Standard Item Type. Select a programme to link the item to.
    Grading Standard Item Options Use the drop-down to set the status of the item. Selecting 'No' marks the item as 'Inactive'.
  3. Select the Curriculums tab and select the curriculums that are to be linked to the item.
  4. Select the Subjects tab and select the subjects that are to be linked to the item.
  5. Select the Years tab and select the year groups that are to be linked to the item.
  6. Select Save & Close. The standard item is listed.

Order standard items

  1. Select Order Standard Items in the header. A popup window is displayed:
  2. Select an item in the list shown and use the blue arrows on the right to move it as required.
  3. Select Save & Close once you have made all the changes required.

Copy a standard item

  1. Select the copy standard item icon in the standard item that you want to copy. A popup window is displayed:

  1. Select the edit icon in the standard Item that you want to work with. A popup window is displayed:

  3. Select the Curriculums tab and select the curriculums that are to be linked to the item.
  4. Select the Subjects tab and select the subjects that are to be linked to the item.
  5. Select the Years tab and select the year groups that are to be linked to the item.
  6. Two other tabs are available, these are explained as follows:
    • Metadata. Any metadata fields set up for standard items are listed here. Add values for the metadata fields as required.
    • Audit. Any changes made to the standard item are listed here.
  7. Select Save & Close.

Delete a standard item

Standard items linked to standard sets cannot be deleted.

  1. Select the delete icon in the standard item that you want to delete. You are prompted Are you sure you want to delete this standard item?
  2. Select Yes. The item is deleted.
