Deleting Unwanted Accounts

It is possible to delete a ledger account (such as a Supplier or Sales Account) to which no documents or transactions have been linked to the account in IRIS Financials.

If transactions or documents have been posted to the account, it is only possible to hide the account. Hidden accounts are still visible to your System Administrator, i.e. the person within your establishment/organisation who administers your system, i.e. has a CUSTADMIN login.

  1. Select Maintenance, then select Accounts from the top menu bar.
  2. The Select a ledger dialog is displayed. Double-select to select the required ledger. In the following example, PURCHASE - Purchase Accounts has been selected.
  3. The Account Maintenance window is displayed. Select the account to be deleted from the left-hand panel, then select DELETE.

    If DELETE is greyed out, transactions and documents are posted against the sales account and it cannot be deleted. If you need to remove the sales account, then need to set the security roles to hide the account. For more information, please see Hiding Accounts no Longer Required.    

  4. The account to be deleted is displayed with a strike-through in the left-hand side panel, select SAVE.
  5. The Confirm deletion window is displayed. Select OK to confirm and delete the account.
  6. An Update complete message is displayed. Select OK to close the message and return to the previous window.
