Overview of WebHooks

WebHooks are similar to IRIS Cascade workflows, as they use triggers and actions; the main difference is that WebHooks can communicate with other systems outside IRIS Cascade. This means that you can use WebHooks to trigger messages to a URL (website address) of your choice whenever specific events occur within IRIS Cascade.

An event is usually defined as any activity that could be of interest to another system, for example:

  • Creating a new employee
  • Approving a holiday
  • Changing an employee’s job or role

For the new starter example, if your organisation uses one or more systems outside IRIS Cascade to manage any of the following, you could create WebHooks to automatically update those systems whenever new employees are added to IRIS Cascade:

  • IT equipment
  • Staff training
  • Company cars
  • Expenses

You can set up WebHooks for any screen within the IRIS Cascade employee framework to trigger when records are either added, deleted, updated, approved, or rejected.

To create and manage WebHooks, use the WebHooks area of Admin.
