Manage Communications Languages

IRIS Reach supports over 40 languages, using an online translator, for text or in-app messages.

The language translator is only used for text or in-app messages. It does not translate emails, forms, microsites, letters or digital documents.

The language setting is extracted from the First Language setting in your Management Information System (MIS). If no language is set, IRIS Reach uses the default language of British English. If you change the language on IRIS Reach directly, it does not affect the language in your MIS.

You can also manually add or edit existing languages directly in IRIS Reach as described in Adding / Editing Contact Languages.

Adding / Editing Contact Languages

If required, you can manually add a contact language to IRIS Reach or you can edit an existing language that has been synchronised from your MIS. Any changes made in IRIS Reach apply to IRIS Reach only and does not affect your MIS.

  1. In IRIS Reach, go to Data Management > Contact Languages.
  2. Search for and select the required student. This opens their student report.
