SIMS Link Errors

If you are having trouble with the SIMS Autolink syncing with IRIS ParentMail, you can resolve the error showing in the log file and your SIMS Autolink should continue to work. The required log file can be found on the workstation / server that the SIMS Autolink is installed on in the following location:

C:Drive > Logs > ParentMail.SimsAutoLink.ReportExporter > Locate most recent log file (check the date modified to be certain).

If you are still experiencing errors after following the log file error resolution, log a support ticket (a Service Cloud account is required) to send your log file or select Live Chat to contact the Technical Support Team.

The following errors might be displayed if you are having issues with your SIMS Autolink:

Public commands will execute if they have been registered on the known public commands white list. This public command is not on that list.

This usually means that the SIMS Autolink is not activated in IRIS ParentMail.

  1. Select Settings > MIS Link.
  2. Select Enable Autolink.

    Do not generate a new API Key.

  3. In ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, then select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  4. Select Generate a New API Key.
  5. In ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager. Select the School tab, then within the first ID tab, change the ID to the new API Key.
  6. Select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  7. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing across.

    If you are still experiencing issues, go back to C:\logs\parentmailreportexporter and view the recent log file to check for new errors.

No end point, 9001

This means that the service has stopped on the SIMS Autolink.

  1. In ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager. Select Tools > Service Status > Restart.
  2. Once this is flashing green, come out of this window and select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  3. If you receive an error message about restarting service through the configuration manager, select Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Services > Find ParentMail SIMS Autolink, then right-click > select the option that is showing from: Restart/Refresh/Stop > Start.
  4. After this, in ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  5. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.

No end point, 9002

This means that the Report Generator option has been selected in ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager.

  1. In ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, select Tools > Options, then clear Report Generator.
  2. Next, select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  3. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports.

System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object

This usually refers to the added reports missing details or the reports have been added incorrectly.

  1. In ParentMail SIMS Autolink Configuration Manager. Find the reports you have set (in Reports). Check there are no spaces within the name fields for each report. The report names should be displayed as:

    • PMX2 Student Parent Export
    • PMX2 Staff Export
    • PMX2 Class Teacher Export
    • PMX2 Tutors Export
  1. If you have corrected the report names, select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  2. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.

    If you are still experiencing issues, go back to C:\logs\parentmailreportexporter and view the recent log file to check for new errors.

** Warning ID Missing, It could be SIMS Third Party reporter missing

This means that the SIMS user that is linked to the SIMS Autolink has missing Third Party Reporting permissions.

  1. Check the SIMS user permissions in SIMS.

    They should have the following permissions, Administration Assistant, Personnel Office, and Third Party Reporting. It is recommended an IRIS ParentMail user is created in SIMS with the three permissions.

  1. After you have made the necessary changes in SIMS, In ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  2. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.

    If you are still experiencing issues, go back to C:\logs\parentmailreportexporter and view the recent log file to check for new errors.

<CommandReporterError>Login failed for user *****. Reason: Login failed for user '*****'.</CommandReporterError>

This means that the login details of the SIMS user that is linked to the SIMS Autolink have been entered incorrectly.

  1. Check the login details work by logging into SIMS as normal.

    The user should have the following permissions, Administration Assistant, Personnel Office, and Third Party Reporting. It is recommended an IRIS ParentMail user is created in SIMS with the three permissions.

  2. After you have made any necessary changes, update the SIMS user login details in ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager. Select the School tab, then update details under Username and Password.
  3. Select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  4. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.

    If you are still experiencing issues, go back to C:\logs\parentmailreportexporter and view the recent log file to check for new errors.

<CommandReporterError>Login failed for user *****. Reason: A network-related or instance-specific error occurred while establishing a connection to SQL Server. The server was not found or was not accessible. Verify that the instance name is correct and that SQL Server is configured to allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified </CommandReporterError>

Login details/Server details entered incorrectly

This means that the login details of the SIMS user or the SIMS Server details that is linked to the SIMS Autolink have been incorrectly entered.

  1. Check the login details work by logging into SIMS as normal.

    The user should have the following permissions, Administration Assistant, Personnel Office, and Third Party Reporting. It is recommended an IRIS ParentMail user is created in SIMS with the three permissions.

  2. After you have made any necessary changes, update the SIMS user login details in ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager.
  3. Select the School tab, update details under Username and Password.
  4. Open your connect.ini. file (located in the C:Drive > Program Files > SIMS) and check the SIMS server details match the details displayed on the SIMS Autolink.
  5. After you have made the necessary changes, select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  6. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports.

Error occurred loading configuration file. access to path c/programfilesparentmailsimsauto link/report

This error is displayed when you are trying to save the Autolink configuration. You need to make sure you have permission to save in the ParentMail folder on the C Drive on your machine.

  1. Select Start > Computer > C:/ > Program Files.
  2. Find the ParentMail folder, right-click, then select Properties.
  3. Select Security > Advanced > Change Permissions.
  4. Enter Everyone in Object Name.
  5. Select check names, then OK.
  6. Select Apply, then OK on the open security windows.
  7. In ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager and try saving the configuration.
  8. When you have synced, in IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.

Temp error

Temp error usually means that the SIMS Autolink is trying to locate the file to save the reports into however, it is having difficulty doing this therefore the error is displayed. This error can relate to any issue, for example, the server is down, login details not working, etc. Sometimes just trying again later resolves the issue.

  1. Check all details set up in ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager are correct, i.e., check SIMS user login details are correct etc.
  2. Remove PMX2 reports from SIMS directly, then in ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  3. After removing reports from SIMS, import the PMX2 reports manually in SIMS.
  4. In ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  5. Check PMX2 reports added to the SIMS Autolink and check the details are entered correctly.
  6. Check in SIMS if you have Green Abbey supplier against any of the PMX2 reports.
    1. Select Reports > Run Report, then find one of your reports, PMX2 Student Parent Export, PMX2 Staff, PMX2 Class Teacher, or PMX2 Tutor Export.
    2. If you do, you need to delete them. To remove a report in SIMS, select Reports > Design Reports > Open > Focus, find the report, then right-click onto the report showing as the Green Abbey supplier > Delete > Save.
    3. In ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
    4. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.

Could not generate site online signal because an exception was thrown. An error occurred while sending the request. Unable to connect to the remote server.

There are two methods that can be used to resolve the issue:

Method 1

  1. Select Start Menu.
  2. Enter cmd in Search.
  3. Enter ping, then pmx.parentmail.co.uk.
  4. Select Enter. A message should display 0%. If 0% is not displayed, you need to make sure IRIS ParentMail is allowed through your proxy / firewall (we use port 9002).
  5. After any changes have been made, in ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  6. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.

Method 2

  1. In ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, select the Proxy tab.
  2. Remove the exceptions entered, then select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  3. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.

This CSV (*********.csv) isn't valid for imports - the type signature is unknown: **************

This means that a permission is missing from the SIMs user.

  1. Check the SIMS user permissions in SIMS.

    The user should have the following permissions, Administration Assistant, Personnel Office, and Third Party Reporting. It is recommended an IRIS ParentMail user is created in SIMS with the three permissions.

  2. After you have made the necessary changes in SIMS, in ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  3. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.

Could not execute report PMX2 Staff Export System. IO. FileNotFoundException: Could not find file C:\ Windows \TEMP \tmpFF2D.csv

This means that the Staff report is not working.

  1. Download the PMX2 Staff Export report definition file, then save the report in C:Drive > Program Files > ParentMail > SIMS Autolink folder.
  2. Next, open the ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager.
  3. Select the Reports tab, then select the staff report to open the details of the report.
  4. Replace the current report with the new report by selecting Menu (...). Find your new staff report definition file.
  5. When the report has been replaced, select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  6. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.

Could not publish school data at ..... System.ArgumentException: parsing ""*.cccnet"" - Quantifier {x,y} following nothing.

This usually means that the SIMS Autolink is not activated in IRIS ParentMail.

  1. In IRIS ParentMail, select Settings > MIS Links.
  2. Select Enable Autolink.

    Do not generate a new API Key.

  1. In ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, select File > Save > Ping > Sync.

    If it is enabled, please action the following:

    1. Select Generate a New API Key, then in ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, select the School tab, then in the first ID tab, change the ID to the new API Key.
    2. Select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
    3. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.

End of stack trace from previous location where exception was thrown...

This means that you need to remove the proxy exceptions added to the SIMS Autolink.

  1. In ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, select the Proxy tab.
  2. Remove the exceptions entered, select File > Save > Ping > Sync.
  3. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.

Could not execute report PMX2 Student Parent Export because...... the process could not be started System.ComponentModel.Win32Exception(0x80004005): The system cannot find the file specified at System.Diagnostics.Process.StartWithCreateProcess(ProcessStartInfo startInfo) at ParentMail. SimsAutoLink. Services. ReportExecutor. ExecuteReport (String reportName, String reportType, String server, String catalog, String userName, String password).

This means that you need to check that SIMS works on the server you have installed the IRIS ParentMailSIMS Autolink on.

Try updating your SIMS program on the server and complete the configuration for the SIMS Autolink from scratch.

System.IndexOutOfRangeException: Index was outside the bounds of the array.

  1. Check the Type on all reports added is showing as csv.
  2. Then check you can login to SIMS and the program runs smoothly on the server.
  3. Check connect.ini details to make sure they match what you have entered into the SIMS Autolink.
  4. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.

System.IO.IOException: The process cannot access the file 'C:\Program Files\ParentMail\SIMS AutoLink\Report Exporter\ ParentMail. SimsAutoLink.ReportExporter.exe.config' because it is being used by another process.

  1. Check the service has not stopped. In ParentMail SIMS Autolink configuration manager, select Tools > Service Status. If it is red, select Restart Service.
  2. Then check the Autolink has been installed in the C: Drive. This should be displayed on the main window of the configuration manager.
  3. Check the Autolink is not already open anywhere.
  4. Try closing the programme and re-opening.
  5. Save any changes made.
  6. In IRIS ParentMail, select Imports > Imports to check if the data is now syncing.
