Companies House

The integration with Companies House allows you to display key client information on a new tab on the client page, as well as triggering the accounts production and confirmation statement jobs automatically.

Please note: This integration is available on UK and Ireland Senta workspaces by default. To switch this on for other regions, please contact support@senta.co

Find out:

Turn on the Companies House integration

  1. Go to Settings > General settings > Extras to turn on the integration

  2. Select Save to finish.

View Companies House information for existing clients

Once you have turned on the Companies House integration, all Ltd Companies and LLPs will have a new Companies House tab. From here you can add a company number by clicking "Edit" at the top left. Senta can use key dates from this tab to automatically trigger accounts production and confirmation statement jobs for your clients. You can also import any documents from Companies House straight into Senta.

Once you enter the company number, the tab will display key company information such as company name, type, date of incorporation, accounts next due.

Add clients from Companies House

You can add clients straight into Senta from Companies House.

  1. Go to Clients > Add from Companies House.

  2. Search for a company by name or company number.

  3. You can then choose whether to add a company as a prospect or as a client.

When you add a company from Companies House, Senta will also import the following company details onto the client record :

  • General tab:

    • Client name

    • Type

  • Address tab:

    • Address

  • Contacts tab:

    • Officer information as individual contacts

  • Limited company details (general) tab:

    • Company number

    • Date of incorporation

    • Accounting reference date

  • Limited company details (registered office) tab:

    • Address

This is a one-off import tool. Data from Companies House will not continue to sync with data in the Senta fields listed above after an initial import. The data on the Companies House tab will continue to update.

Add in a SIC code

  1. Go to Settings > General settings > Forms > Client details > Companies House tab and add a new Textbox field with the field reference siccode.

  2. A new field will be added to the Companies House tab on each client record.

The SIC code will only automatically update for any companies added directly from Companies House. If you have other Companies House clients who were added in manually or imported via CSV, please contact support@senta.co to request for the SIC data to be imported from Companies House.

For more information on editing forms, please see Configure forms .

Update existing client fields with Companies House information

You can bulk import company numbers for all clients from a spreadsheet by adding a company number column to your client data spreadsheet, then when mapping the columns for import, select the Company number field.

If you have already imported clients into Senta from a spreadsheet and want to update their client fields with information pulled from Companies House, please contact support at support@senta.co who can run a bulk import of this information for you.

If these clients already have contact data, the import tool will attempt to either merge or append officers based on the names that already exist within Senta.

If required, we can import just the dates from Companies House, or just address information.

Trigger jobs from dates in Companies House

Accounts production and Confirmation statement jobs are automatically triggered from dates pulled from Companies House.

If you have added a company from Companies House, or you have added a company number to the Companies House tab for an existing client, then all you need to do to is turn on the appropriate service and the jobs will run automatically.

Senta will ensure that the filing dates are pulled directly from Companies House. Any triggered jobs will display a magic wand symbol next to them.

Accounts production

The accounting reference date, accounts period start and Companies House accounts filing date will all be pulled from Companies House. Triggered dates will display a magic wand symbol.

The Accounts production job is triggered by the Accounts next made up to date changing on the Companies House tab, once you file annual accounts. After filing accounts, it takes 2-3 days for Companies House to notify Senta about the change in dates.

If you shorten or lengthen a client's accounting year, Senta will trigger a new accounts job based on the new accounts period end. Senta will not automatically cancel any previous accounts jobs that had already been triggered in Senta. If you change the filing date, a new job will not be kicked off, and you will need to manually update the filing date in the existing accounts job.

Confirmation statement

The Next made up to date will be pulled from Companies House. Triggered dates will display a magic wand symbol.

The Confirmation statement job is triggered by the Confirmation statement next made up to date changing on the Companies House tab, once you file a confirmation statement for your client. After filing a confirmation statement, it takes 2-3 days for Companies House to notify Senta about the change in dates.

If you change the date of a client's confirmation statement, Senta will trigger a new confirmation statement job based on this new date. Senta will not automatically cancel any previous confirmation statement jobs that had already been triggered in Senta. If you change the filing date, a new job will not be kicked off, and you will need to manually update the filing date in the existing confirmation statement job.

Senta will not mark any tasks or jobs as complete after filing has been completed elsewhere, you will still need to manually complete these within Senta.
