Troubleshooting the IRIS SQL backup process

Introduction

From time to time, you may encounter difficulties when backing up or restoring a database.

There can be a number of reasons why you would encounter issue and it is hoped that this document will cover the more common problems.

 

Backing Up IRIS SQL

Please refer to the Backing UP IRIS Using SQL Server fact sheet for details on how to back up an IRIS SQL Database.

 

 

Issue – Knowledgebase article: 11963

 

This kind of message indicates that you do not have the relevant permissions to access the directory you are trying to backup to.

Solution

It is recommended that all IRIS backups are saved to the SQLBAK folder within the IRIS\DATA folder.

Also, ensure that the directory, where the backup is being saved to, has full permissions granted.

 

 

Issue – Knowledgebase article 11964

 

Solution

Ensure that SQL Services have been started and that the function is being performed on the server.

 

 

Issue – Knowledgebase article 4236

 

Solution

A backup taken using SQL 2012 is being restored onto an SQL 2000 installation.

Install SQL Server 2012 and try again.
