How to move a standalone version of IRIS from one machine to another

Introduction

This topic provides an outline of the process and links to how to guides and video walkthroughs for all the main processes involved in moving a standalone version of IRIS from one machine to another.

Remove Licences

Backup the IRIS database

Install Microsoft .Net 4.6 on the new machine  

Install SQL Server on the new machine

Install IRIS on the new machine  

Copy the DATA folder from the old machine to the new IRIS folder  

Restore the IRIS database  

Recreate the IRIS logins  

Reactivate Licences

Remove Your Licences

• From the main menu cllick Tools-Licence Details, check the top box to select all and then remove your licences.

Backup the IRIS database

Install Microsoft SQL Server

• Microsoft SQL Server Express is only recommended for installations of up to six users. For full system requirements please click here.

• Users of Windows 8 or Windows 2012 should install SQL 2012.

Copy the Data Folder

• The DATA folder contains certain items that cannot be stored in the SQL database, such as: documents, templates, record of tax returns sent

• The DATA folder from the old IRIS directory should be copied into the new IRIS folder on the new machine

Restore the IRIS database

Recreate the IRIS logins

Reactivate your Licences

• From the main menu, click Tools-Licence Details, select the Update Licences tab, then click Check for updates in the bottom left. Tick all licences and click Activate in the bottom right.
