Introduction

There is a database of listed companies and unit trusts. Dividends from UK companies are available from 2003 onwards. The database also includes all limited companies entered in IRIS. It is possible to pick a company and look up the dividend, enter new dividends and to make global updates for the tax return.

Dividend services is accessed from the Capital Assets screen.

This screen is used to link a shareholding to one of the database of companies supplied as standard with IRIS. It is also used on the dividend database screen.

As there are about 5,000 items on this master list, a search facility has been provided.

In the Search for Company field, type in the first few letters of the company name to locate the company. The search starts as soon as data is entered and continues to be refined as more characters are entered.

  1. Select a company from the list and click OK.

A list of IRIS limited companies is also available. It is possible, in conjunction with the optional Dividend Service, to enter the dividends paid by the IRIS companies so that they can be automatically imported by all shareholders. IRIS Company dividends are entered via Dividends Database on the Edit pull-down menu. The dividends for all the listed companies are supplied with the optional Dividend Service.

  1. Select a Tax Year from the Dividends Database screen.

Dividend data cannot be edited or deleted. New dividends may be added but IRIS will be supplying the latest dividend information with each update.

  1. Click Update Capital Assets to update the current or all clients shareholdings. This inserts the dividends from the dividends database to the client's tax return.
