How to submit ERS 15 previously known as Form 42 to HMRC

Introduction

From 06th April 2015 it has become mandatory that users electronically submit the ERS 15 document which was previously known as the Form 42 Employment related securities

IRIS will generate and produce the new formatted ERS 15 form however, due to HMRC restrictions all filings of ERS 15 must be submitted via the HMRC website.

From IRIS Company Secretarial:

  1. Select Company Forms | Highlight ERS (15) | Print form | Save the form externally from IRIS (desktop)
  2. The excel spreadsheet will need to be saved externally.

  1. Log on to HMRC gateway service and upload the external document for submission.
  1. Do not alter the name of the worksheets as this will cause a problem when users try to submit to HMRC.

To avoid HMRC rejection we recommend that you use their free service to check your files. This can make it easier when you come to submit your annual return.

HMRC Online services

Due to HMRC restrictions, all filing of form ERS 15 must be done directly by uploading via their website. Therefore to file ERS 15 online with HMRC IRIS will generate and produce the new formatted ERS 15 form externally. You will then need to visit the HMRC gateway and upload this file.

In addition to this HMRC validation service currently enforces that a post code is present in the address, this is incorrect, post code is not a mandatory field, HMRC are aware of this issue and will implement a fix in due course.
