Windows 10 Users Getting IRIS Startup Failure

After upgrading to Windows 10, it has been identified that some users are encountering the following error when trying to open IRIS:

This problem usually arises when the SQL Server service is stopped.

To resolve this, the SQL Service needs restarting:

  1. Open the Run dialog, (Windows + R keys).

  2. Type services.msc, press Enter.

  1. Locate SQL Server ( IRISPRACTICE) or (SQLEXPRESS)and select Start. Retry IRIS.

  1. In persistent cases, right-click on the SQL Server Service and select Properties. Change Startup type to Automatic (Delayed Start).

  1. Click the Recovery tab and change all failures to Restart the Service. Click Apply.

The above steps may need to be repeated for the IRIS Co-Ordination Service to ensure licences remain validated. Please see KB 12163 for more detail on this.
